MedRe Project

Overview:

A New Revolution in Personal Health Record Keeping

Health industry is evolving rapidly and with this rapid growth it's very difficult to maintain healthrecord. Our mission is to provide anywhere health record accessibility by improving diagnosis, there by reducing healthcare costs to all citizens. MedRe allows patients to keep their health records on a secure and HIPAA compliant cloud based solution. MedRe helps patients share their records with any providers quickly and allows Emergency respondents access the profile to provide quick and safe first response.

We need to have our medical records put on the IT.

The current medical records system is this: Room after room after room in a hospital filled with paper files.

Timothy Murphy, AZ Quote

Problem Statement: Create a mobile application which is unique, ability to manage health records, have additional functionality like medicine delivery at doorsteps and many more.

Challenge: Paper medical records isn’t scalable; it lacks backup and it’s not secure. It led me to think about a solution which is not expensive and more secure to save health data. Keeping accessibility and modern look in mind.

Proposal: I decided to create healthcare app where record management get as simple as 123. It take few clicks to complete a task, easy to understand and informative. Patients could access their health record anytime, anywhere using MedRe mobile app. This solution would be beneficial for hospital and testing labs too.

Audience: The targeted audience is patients as well as people interested in managing their health records or daily vitals.

My Role: Work as UI/UX Designer and solve health record management problem to simplify patient’s life. I discovered the user’s problem and understood their pain points, then started off the design, conducted user research to advocate designs and followed complete UX Process end to end.

Process:

Understood vision for the company and interviewed VP Product to better understand their expectations and to better understand how they are envisioning their future product.
As a lean UX process, I started the process with competitive research, and I identified competitors. Analyzing and comparing the content of their apps helped me to determine the direction of development for MedRe application. Collected research data by conducting researcher-to-user interaction.
Conducted Heuristic analysis as well it helped to better understand usability problems, resolve them by our design solution and improve user’s experience and satisfaction.

Research

Competitor Analysis: I wanted to understand existing healthcare and health data management app using various criteria. I began my research by looking through a few competitors or similar platforms by analyzing UI, UX, Userflow and other key features. I figured we have very few well know platforms like Apple Health, Kardia, WellDoc diabetes manager.

Mind Map: To understand app I Created simple mind map which was used to plan site Map of the Product. It helped in exploring ideas, brainstorming, creative thinking and organizing information.

Wireframes

It is quicker and cheaper to review and amend the structure of the key pages in a wireframe format. Iterating the development of the wireframes to a final version will provide the client and the design team confidence that the page is catering to user needs whilst fulfilling the key business and project objectives.

UI Design

Creating UI Design is not easy process. We can’t just choose colors for our projects based on how we feel about them or based on the trends. I’ve to research to have better understanding about color theory, style, content, culture of users.
Deciding which color theme app should follow and keeping app look and feel more simple and attractive to users. I choose purple a smy brand color as it is known for it’s sensitive, compassionate, understanding and supportive, thinking of others before yourself property.

Conclusion & Next Steps

Designing this Mobile app was very challenging and rewarding too because this project helped me the importance of user research and testing like my other projects. There are numerous individuals who support the possibility that advanced results of today should be moderate and simply useful. In any case, my experience and practice show that individuals need to both tackle the issues and feel tasteful fulfillment utilizing applications. At MedRe I liked being part of product team and being involved in complete design process from finding UX problem to deliver product solution as lead designer.

Usability Testing: Testing of beta version is still in progress using TestFlight. Prior to launch, I'll be iterating beta version of app based upon usability testing. I used focus group and other testing methods like shadowing users, click stream analysis and task based analysis.
